At the museum

Listed as 1 of the Attractions in Bangalore, Innovative Film City is 46 mins away, by road, from Shivajinagar. If you have your own transport its a neat drive to that place. But for 1st timers, like us, quite a journey locating it. This was in the year 2009, when the Bangalore-Mysore toll was not completely constructed. Yet a nice long stretch of clean road...minus all the chaos of the town and the traffic.


As you enter, you'll have a person who'll welcome you at the entrance trying to use his Selling skills for the different packages they got to offer. Hey psssst....don't fall for it....cause we did!! They'd show you a neat sketch, even a blue print if u ask for it, of the various rides and the fun things they got inside. But when u probe into it further u'll realize that most of it don't function.

Few things we got to see:


Mirror Maze.
Go Karting ( Good if you got a group to enjoy with)
Fun Plex 4D theatre ( we had to go by their choice of Dinosaur Evolution as they did not have, permission to play any other movie). It was pretty ok though with the water effects they had during the movie and the 4d itself.
Haunted Mansion (not as effective as the Haunted House at Garuda Mall)
Roller Coaster ( Was the shortest ride in the entire Film City. The minute u geared up and prepare to open your mouth and scream, u r at the end of the ride)
Shoot out. (Good enough, as you get to actually feel a rifle)
Wild wild west (At least they attempted)
Was Museum ( Pretty good)
Ripley's ( pretty intuitive)


They were planning on introducing the Rally Cars, and fortunately we got to experience it, for Rs.500 a ride..worth it. Neatly planned with the typical muddy road and the rugged vehicle just to get u the feel of a race. 
The rest can be ignored...


At a high level, good planning for an amusement place in a city like Bangalore, but a half done project.

Worth a 1 time visit.

Manasa water park (Mangalore)

Manasa Water Park, located 15 mins away from NH 13 and 9.3km away from Nanthoor, Mangalore is worth a onetime visit for students like us. Trying to take time out of the busy schedule at School and a break from the extreme humidity of Mangalore we set out to visit this place.

The entry fee: Rs 190

The web link is well maintained considering it provides the ‘outdoor option’ to the public at a comparatively low cost. We decided to choose this place by taking a peek at their website. Can’t expect an updated site, considering its already running at a low cost.  I’m sure it’s not within budget to maintain a website for this place.

It's located a little away from the Bus stop, but it’s a good walk to the park.

Going to such places on a public holiday, not a good idea. For schools, however, that is the best time to get their kids for an outdoor activity. But for people like us, it’s like monkeys all over the place. Forget the water slides u can’t even use the still pool…

The entrance of Manasa

Carry your own snacks or lunch as the food outlet is not that great or hygienic. Also considering the fact that it’s located at a remote area, you’ll be NOT so happy to know that the restaurant inside Manasa is your only hope. Can be overlooked if you are the ones who do not end up with side effects after a bad meal.  Again, since it’s provided at a not so high cost, that area could be overlooked.

If you planning on heading to Manasa on a weekday, most of the rides will be out of operation.

Water Slide

The most painful was the, what they call, ‘Harakiri’. Painful is an understatement. It’s a regular water slide which ends on a hard cement base instead of gushing or flowing water base... 

Note to the facilities: 

When you plan on building a slide that high and that steep the least u can do is use some more water at the bottom of the slide so people may not end up damaging their tail bone. Mangalore has water in abundance. Use more water and reduce the amount of chlorine.

I guess the 3 of us (Clinton, Hussain and I) did have a good break. But would I want to go there again just for the amusement, maybe not.
